Delhi Air Pollution The Air Quality Index AQI is very severe in Delhi where it was recorded 344 on Tuesday at around 4 PM. This is due to the emission of the vehicles and farm fires. The smog combined with shallow to moderate fog leads to rare visibility in the morning hours specially Delhi, Noida, Ghaziabad and other parts of NCR National capital region.
AQI If we see the trends of AQI to some cities of India, Delhi ranks 4th in the no. where Hajipur with AQI 427 tops the list ,with Chandigarh and Patna next in the queue.
AQI Parameters An AQI between zero and 50 is considered “good”, 51 and 100 “satisfactory”, 101 and 200 “moderate”, 201 and 300 “poor”, 301 and 400 “very poor”, 401 and 450 “severe” and above 450 “severe plus”
The major air pollutants in Delhi’s air was PM10, Particulate matters with diameters less than 10 micrometer. PM10 particles are small enough to pass through the nose and throat and enter the lungs, where they can cause serious health effects. It includes emission from vehicles , industries , dust, pollen as they penetrate deep into the lungs, potentially leading to issues such as asthma, bronchitis and other respiratory diseases.
Priyanka Singh, Delhi-based independent think tank Council on Energy, Environment and Water (CEEW),She said according to the Air Quality Early Warning System (AQEWS), the AQI is expected to stay around 350 for the next two days. After November 14, the AQI is anticipated to drop below 350, with a further decrease below 300 expected by November 19.
The people are advised to cut short the outdoor activities and try to remain indoor as far as possible.
