Aam Aadmi Party has suffered a major setback before the Delhi Assembly elections. Delhi Transport Minister Kailash Gehlot resigned from the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) on Sunday. He has informed about this by writing a letter to Arvind Kejriwal.

Along with this, he expressed his views in a letter to Delhi Chief Minister Atishi and Aam Aadmi Party national convenor Arvind Kejriwal regarding the cleaning of Yamuna and the dispute over the new bungalow, in order to resign from the post of minister. CM Atishi has accepted his resignation.

Kailash Gehlot accused the AAP government of not fulfilling key promises made to the people of Delhi. In his letter, he highlighted the failure to clean the Yamuna river even though it was a major election promise. “We had promised the people a clean Yamuna, but we have failed to fulfil that commitment,” he wrote.

He also expressed his views on the controversy over Arvind Kejriwal’s government bungalow. Gehlot said, “There are many embarrassing and strange issues like the new bungalow, due to which people are now raising the question whether we still believe in being a party of the common man.” He further said that the development work of the capital is being hampered due to the ongoing tussle between the Delhi government and the central government. Gehlot said, “Now it has become clear that if the Delhi government spends most of its time fighting with the Center, then real development of Delhi is not possible.” It is worth mentioning that the assembly elections in Delhi are proposed to be held in February 2025. Before this, Kailash Gehlot’s sudden departure from the party has raised many questions. Speculations of his joining BJP have also intensified. At present, no official statement has come out in this regard.
